VANCOUVER - Transit Police in Metro Vancouver are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a female passenger but they have more information about the possible suspect than they have about the victim.
The force is urging a 20- to 25-year-old Asian woman to come forward to discuss an incident at 12:25 on Tuesday afternoon when officers believe she was sexually assaulted moments after stepping off the Number 99 bus in east Vancouver.
Investigators say the approximately 40-year-old suspect, who is known to the Coast Mountain Bus Company as a regular rider, had left the bus at the same stop.
They say he followed the victim before assaulting her and exposing himself.
In addition to searching for the woman, officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, as they consider possible criminal charges.
Police have offered few details about the woman, who is described as five feet tall, while they say the height of the suspect, who wore a dark jacket and brown pants, is about six feet two inches.
Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version incorrectly reported that the incident occurred Thursday.
