Travis Alphonse Sewap charged after 3 wounded in random Pelican Narrows shooting

A 29-year-old man is facing five charges after three teenagers were injured in a random shooting in Pelican Narrows, Sask., early Saturday morning.

Police say a man exited a home on Jan Street around 4 a.m. CST carrying a .22-calibre rifle and started randomly firing at a group of people nearby.

Three people were wounded in the shooting —  a 14-year-old boy from Flin Flon, Man.; a 15-year-old girl from Flin Flon, Man.; and a 19-year-old man from Pelican Narrows, Sask.

Emergency crews transported the three victims to a local hospital. All three have since been released.

Travis Alphonse Sewap, 29, was arrested shortly after the shooting.

He is charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of discharging a firearm with intent and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the shooting.
