O.J. Simpson Bronco chase remembered 20 years later

It has been 20 years since television viewers were transfixed by a video of a white Ford Bronco travelling north on a Los Angeles freeway.

More than 95 million people watched as the vehicle carrying former football star O.J. Simpson cruised ahead of a fleet of Los Angeles police cars in pursuit.

The 96-kilometre journey would take Simpson from Orange County to his home in Brentwood, a suburb of Los Angeles.

The athlete-turned-actor fled after his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman had been found stabbed to death.

Simpson sat in the back of the vehicle holding a gun to his own head as his friend, former football player Al Cowlings, drove the Jeep along the highway.

Simpson was charged with two counts of murder. He was acquitted in what some have called "the trial of the century."
