Race car driver killed at Cornwall Speedway track

A 23-year-old race car driver is dead after his car crashed into a cement barrier at the Cornwall Motor Speedway Sunday night.

Danny Lefebvre of St-Louis De Gonzague, Que., was competing in a sanctioned race at the speedway at about 8:18 p.m. when his car hit the barrier.

He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Ontario Provincial Police and the Ontario Ministry of Labour are investigating.

A post mortem examination is being scheduled.

It's the second fatal crash at a track in eastern Ontario this season.

Wesley Wallin, 57, died after a crash at the Capital City Speedway on May 21.
