Prince's 'Purple Rain' Turns 30: Celebrate With 30 Movie Clips And Cool Covers (VIDEO)

Prince may have known he was star back when in 1982 when he first partied like it was 1999, but it wasn't until two years later when "Purple Rain" came out and the rest of it realized it, too.

Filmed in Prince's hometown of Minneapolis, the semi-autobiographical movie featured the pop star as Kid and became a cult classic as well winning an Oscar for the soundtrack which went on to sell 20 million copies.

In celebration of it's awesomeness, we've collected clips from the film performances as well as amazing covers of the songs by everyone from the cast of "Fame" to Beyonce, Rhianna, Janelle Monae, Foo Fighters and Tina Turner.
