HALIFAX - Public health officers are investigating an outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness linked to a hotel in Halifax.
Capital Health says it is aware of 50 cases affecting staff and guests of Delta Halifax between Monday and Friday.
Delta Halifax says it has increased cleaning, removed any suspected food items from service and asked ill staff not return to work until 48 hours after their symptoms have ended.
Some of those affected said they experienced vomiting, diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramping and chills, but that no one had been admitted to hospital.
Frank Atherton, the province's deputy chief medical officer of health, says people should wash their hands regularly to prevent the spread of illness.
