David Legwand signs with Senators

The Ottawa Senators have reached a deal with free-agent centre David Legwand on a two-year, $6-million US deal, the team announced Friday.

Legwand will make $2.5 million next season and $3.5 million in 2015-16.

The 33-year-old spent the first 14-plus seasons of his NHL career with the Nashville Predators before he was traded to the Red Wings and played his final 21 games of last season in Detroit.

He totalled 14 goals and 51 points in 83 games for the campaign.

Earlier this week, the Senators traded top centre Jason Spezza to Dallas and re-signed winger Milan Michalek to a three-year, $12-million deal.
