ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Newfoundland and Labrador's Tory leadership race has restarted with three former cabinet ministers officially in the running.
The Progressive Conservative party confirmed after nominations closed that the candidates are Paul Davis, Steve Kent and John Ottenheimer.
Davis and Kent were cabinet ministers in the current Tory government who gave up their respective duties in health and municipal affairs to run.
Ottenheimer is a former minister of health and other portfolios who resigned from provincial politics in 2007.
The winner will be elected by secret ballot Sept. 13 at a delegated convention in St. John's.
The party's first attempt to elect a new leader attracted three political novices before one was ejected and one quit, leaving businessman Frank Coleman.
His coronation was cancelled last month when he suddenly withdrew, citing an undisclosed family matter.
