Alberta nurses, government support contract that mediator recommends

EDMONTON - A mediator has recommended terms and conditions for a new contract for Alberta nurses.

Negotiators with Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health and United Nurses of Alberta agree with what mediator David Jones has recommended.

If accepted, the contract would be in place until March 31, 2017 and would be retroactive to April 1, 2013.

UNA's negotiation team will bring the mediator's recommendation to a meeting on July 15 in Calgary.

Details of the recommendations will be released after the parties have an opportunity to review it.

UNA represents about 30,000 registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses.

The employer group is made up of Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Lamont Health Centre and Bethany Group (Camrose).

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services in the province.
