Via trains cancelled after freighter derails in Brockville

Via Rail trains along Toronto-Ottawa and Toronto-Montreal routes have been cancelled today after a 26-car freight train derailed this morning in Brockville.

The derailment happened at about 4:50 a.m. ET on the tracks near Lyn Road and Highway 401 in Brockville, according to the fire department.

There were no injuries or leaks, and no fire, the department said.

On its website, Via Rail said train service between Toronto and Ottawa, and Toronto and Montreal will be replaced with "alternate transportation."
