Man charged with manslaughter in fatal bus shelter assault

Police have charged a 39-year-old Toronto man with manslaughter in connection to a fatal assault in the city’s east-end Tuesday.

Police received a call in the Clydesdale Drive and Victoria Park Avenue area at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived they found Duane Small, 44, bleeding from his head in a bus shelter.

Small, suffering traumatic injuries, was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital where he later died.

A post-mortem revealed the cause of death was blunt-impact head trauma.

The 39-year-old man arrested and charged with manslaughter is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
