Another dog attack in Calgary; three-year-old bitten in the face by mastiff

CALGARY - Calgary bylaw officers say charges are pending against the owner of a mastiff that bit a three-year-old girl in the face.

It's one more in a handful of reported dog attacks in the city in recent days.

Officials say the tot was in the backyard of a home when she was bitten by the dog, which belonged to a family friend.

The girl was taken to hospital and treated for a serious bite to the face, while the dog was seized by bylaw officers.

Over the weekend, a Staffordshire bull terrier attacked and killed a poodle out for a walk with its owner.

And last Friday, a woman was bitten on the face by an Australian cattle dog.
