Drake is $100,000 lighter in his wallet after settling with rapper 4-Tay over "borrowing" lyrics.
TMZ reports Drake's record label paid 4-Tay $100,000 for "borrowing" lyrics from 4-Tay's 1994 hit "Playaz Club." On YG's song "Who Do You Love," Drake used lyrics which are directly from 4-Tay's song. When the YG song was released, 4-Tay recognized the lyrics and began tweeting about it as well as retweeting comments from fans who noticed the similarity.
After the settlement, however, things between Drake and 4-Tay seemed okay:
No lawsuit was filed but 4-Tay was irked by not receiving credit on the song. The $100,000 amount was acknowledged by 4-Tay's manager to the news outlet.
As previously reported, Drake announced plans for his new album entitled "Views From The 6" last week while also seeing his album "Nothing Was The Same" was one of the 10 albums to make the "Short List" for the 2014 Polaris Prize along with Arcade Fire, Tanya Tagaq, Basia Bulat and others. The singer will perform at his OVO Fest at Toronto's Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in early August.
