Arson charges laid in possible drug-related house explosion north of Calgary

AIRDRIE, Alta. - Two men have been charged in a house explosion just north of Calgary that critically injured two people.

The blast on Jan. 31 in the bedroom community of Airdrie caused significant damage to a duplex.

RCMP said at the time that they believed the explosion was drug-related.

Trevor Urquhart of Airdrie and Matthew Visser of St. Albert, Alta., are charged with arson.

They have also been charged with production of a controlled substance.

They are to appear in court Sept. 18.
