The 55-year-old was struck from behind shortly before midnight near Kingsway Avenue by what police say was a larger Toyota vehicle such as a truck or a SUV.
The vehicle fled the scene, leaving Rickman in the road. He was unconscious when taken to hospital with what police describe as serious injuries.
On Thursday, outside the Royal Columbian Hospital where he remains, his wife Twyla made a tearful plea for the driver to turn himself in.
Rickman himself is a bus driver and friends say he had just finished a shift and was on the way to his home in Pitt Meadows when was hit.
Police have recovered a black, plastic, passenger-side mirror housing from the scene.
