Brett Lawrie activated from disabled list

Third baseman Brett Lawrie was activated from the disabled list, the Toronto Blue Jays announced Monday.

Lawrie has been out of action since June 22, when he suffered a fractured right index finger after he was hit in the hand by Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto.

The 24-year-old finished a rehab assignment with Single 'A' Dunedin this past weekend.

Toronto, which sits 3 ½ games behind AL East-leading Baltimore, begin a critical three-game series with the Orioles on Tuesday night (7:07 p.m. ET) at Rogers Centre.
