Even in the middle of a sea of faux poppies, Kate Middleton managed to stand out.
On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge swapped the cream Alexander McQueen coat she wore over the weekend for a blue L.K. Bennett dress when she, Prince William and Prince Harry visited the Tower of London to look at the thousands of ceramic poppies planted around the tower and moat.
The royals were visiting the powerful art installation, called "Blood Swept Lands And Seas Of Red," which paid tribute to those killed in the First World War.
Kate's beautiful frock, a nod towards the peace that was broken when the war began, featured a pleated detail on the bust and half-length sleeves. The duchess paired the simple but elegant dress with black pumps and a matching clutch.
During the tour of the installation, the 32-year-old appeared to be overcome with emotion, and was seen wiping tears from her eyes.
So far 120,000 poppies have been planted, and by the time it's finished, there will be 888,246, representing the number of British and Commonwealth servicemen and women killed during the First World War.
