Drake Gets Toronto Raptors Fined After Mentioning Kevin Durant At OVO Fest (VIDEO)

Drake's Big Mouth Gets The Raptors In Trouble

Drake gave a shout-out to NBA star Kevin Durant on-stage at OVO Fest last week, and his comments have landed the Toronto Raptors in hot water.

The crowd at the music festival went wild when the rapper mentioned that the Oklahoma City Thunder forward was in attendance.

"You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us," Drake said.

"I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen."

The audience immediately launched into chants of "KD! KD! KD!"

And it was all fun and games until the NBA became involved. ESPN was first to report that the Raptors, for whom Drake is a global ambassador, have been fined $25,000 for contravening the league's anti-tampering rules. The NBA considers Drake's comments a recruiting pitch.

Durant, the NBA MVP, will be a free agent in 2016 and a number of teams are planning to sweep him up, The Toronto Star reported.

For his part, the player certainly appreciated the shout-out.

So don't feel too bad, Drake. At least Durant is helping you make "the 6" a thing.
