Elisha Cuthbert And Dion Phaneuf Take On The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (VIDEO)

WATCH: Elisha Cuthbert Challenges Tessa Virtue In The Best Way Possible

What's better than two beloved Canadians challenging three of their compatriots to dump a bucket of ice over their heads? A video of them doing it:

Why yes, that is actress Elisha Cuthbert and Toronto Maple Leaf player (and Cuthbert's husband) Dion Phaneuf voluntarily choosing to shower in ice (for a moment, at least).

It's part of a social media trend that's been sweeping across various accounts for the last few days, particularly among famous athletes. Started by Pete Frates, a former baseball player with Boston College who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2012, the challenge tasks people with either dumping a bucket of ice over their heads, or donating to an ALS charity of their choice.

The win-win aspect of the challenge is its raising of awareness with regards to the disease (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) and the donations, which the Associated Press reports have spiked 1,000 per cent during the last 10 days. ALS is the most common cause of neurological death in Canada, according to ALS.ca, and approximately 2,500 to 3,000 Canadians are currently living with the disease.

For Phaneuf and Cuthbert's part, they challenged hockey players Clarke MacArthur and Joffrey Lupul, as well as figure skater Tessa Virtue. Your move, Canada's sweetheart.
