Montreal workers charged in violent City Hall pension protest

Charges have been laid against 44 city employees who allegedly stormed Montreal's City Hall on Aug. 18 in protest of proposed legislation to change municipal pension plans.

"These events cannot happen again," Montreal Police Chief Marc Parent told a news conference this morning as the charges were announced.

"It's essential to maintain the confidence of citizens."

More to come.
