Newfoundland health board appoints senior Alberta health official as new CEO

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - The largest health authority in Newfoundland and Labrador has a new president.

David Diamond takes over as the CEO of Eastern Health on Nov. 1.

Diamond has worked in Alberta's health system since 1987 and has held several senior positions, including chief operating officer and senior vice-president of regional hospitals.

He will leave his current position as chief external relations officer with Alberta Health Services to take on the leadership of Eastern Health.

Diamond has signed a five-year contract with Eastern Health and will earn $335,000 a year.

He takes over after Vickie Kaminski left earlier this year to become CEO of Alberta Health Services.
