A Toronto man says he is shocked and horrified by a viral video showing his son lying dead in a Sudbury parking lot.

Vincent Harper, 55, was found dead behind a bank in downtown Sudbury Friday.

Marcel St-Jean had been recording with his camera as he walked towards the Ribfest event when he came upon two men lying in a parking lot.

The video shows him asking the men if they are OK. One man responds to touch where the other does not. St-Jean orders someone to call 911.

St-Jean later uploaded the video to YouTube.

"I just thought I'd share that with you guys,” he is heard saying. “Like that's. . . It's the day after and I'm still not over it. Like that was just messed right up."

But Vern Harper, the victim’s father, said there is no excuse for sharing such footage calling it an “invasion.”

"That's an invasion, when he shows my son laying there, a dead body,” Harper said. “He has no right to do that.”

Harper said that his grandson, the victim’s son, had watched the video without realizing it was his dad lying on the ground.

Harper said his son Vincent had struggled with alcohol and drug abuse for decades, eventually becoming homeless.

"He was a good person. He just got lost on the way,” he said, adding that his son was more than the person portrayed in those images.
