Few along for the ride as Rob Ford seeks out subway riders

Mayor Rob Ford took a ride on the TTC in hopes of talking to riders about subways, but found few people to talk to on board the train.

Ford, who is seeking re-election as mayor this fall, has pitched extending the Sheppard subway line east to McCowan Road.

On Monday, he sought to talk directly to the people riding the subway about his expansion plans by jumping aboard that line. But when reporters tagged along, only a handful of people were on the train.

This fall, Ford is up against dozens of candidates seeking to be elected as mayor.

Some of his most high-profile competitors include former Trinity-Spadina MP Olivia Chow, former city councillor David Soknacki and former Ontario PC leader John Tory.

The election is on Oct. 27.
