Here's a test: Try going back for a few weeks of Facebook statuses. Do you notice this question?

“List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Don't take more than a few minutes, and don't think too hard. They do not have to be the 'right' books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way."

You may have seen this question posted by people in your feed or decided to partake in the fun yourself. During the last two weeks of August, the folks at Facebook decided to collect the information from this particular question using over 130,000 status updates to make up a list of their own.

So who was answering? Facebook noted the majority of users posting this update were from the U.S., India and the U.K., and females outnumbered males. According to Facebook's magical mathematical formula, the average age of the user was 37 (which might make more sense after you read the list).

Turns out Facebook users like you and I love everything from novel series to autobiographies to best-sellers. And although this is not the only list that will define the most popular books of our time, it's a great way to see what the rest of your friends are into and throw up a "like." And as the Atlantic points out, looking at other lists, like Amazon's top lists, may help you figure out why some titles you may not have not necessarily have read topped this list.

And for those of you who can't relate to any of these, chances are your Facebook friends are probably lying. As Huffington Post editor Alexis Kleinman notes, a realistic list that wasn't public probably would include titles like 50 Shades of Grey and Gossip Girl. (Don't judge).

Here are the top 25 favourite books chosen by Facebook users across the globe. The company has also included a percentage of how popular each title was in each status. The full 100 list can be found here.
