After Whitney Houston died, an isolated vocal track of "How Will I Know" went viral that demonstrated just how powerful her voice was at its peak. Since then, isolated vocal tracks of everyone from Adele and Amy Winehouse to Michael Jackson and Queen have proliferated across the internet, serving as an antidote to the rise of AutoTune on the radio.
But then there was the Britney Spears isolated vocal track that went viral because it was so bad. Along the same lines comes this Courtney Love isolated vocal of "Celebrity Skin," which includes her guitar track to add insult to injury.
According to the YouTube poster J.M. Ladd, he was hired in 2010 to record the audio for a Hole performance at New York Fashion Week but "was then left standing with a hard drive and an invoice no one seemed to want. Four years later I still have the files and not really any idea what to do with them. But I like to share. So here we are."
He claims the audio is Courtney's isolated vocal and guitar mics, with everything else muted aside from some sound "bleed." The video, however, is from another show which he synced up his audio, too, which is why it looks a little off.
"To address the most obvious, inevitable question that I will be asked...this is not fake," he adds in the description. "Whether you think she's the worst or this just makes her all the more 'punk rock' is for you to decide. I'm merely presenting the facts as they are. Make of them what you will."
Thus far, Love has not publicly commented on the audio.
Oh, and once you're done, here are some really amazing isolated vocals to make you feel better.
