Gregor Robertson Turns 50 And Gets Hilarious Birthday Wishes (VIDEO)

Politicians Bring The Funny For Vancouver Mayor's 50th

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson turns 50 today, and his fellow politicians brought the funny to YouTube.

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau congratulated Robertson on his "transition out of the handsome politician range into the distinguished older gentleman phase."

He added, "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy" before getting back to "work."

Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson opened his video greeting with a big swig of a Happy Planet organic drink. (Robertson founded Happy Planet before he entered politics.)

Federal NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair got into the spirit of things with a selfie video:

Even Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu spent some time creating a birthday greeting with the help of the VPD dog squad:

But the last word goes to Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi.

"We are very lucky in Canada that we have mayors who are extraordinary leaders, but also extremely handsome with outstanding hair," Nenshi deadpanned. "But in addition to myself and Don Iveson of Edmonton, we have Gregor Robertson."

He ended with: "If you're 50, I need to drink a lot more juice. Happy birthday, Gregor!"

The man of the hour spent his birthday morning announcing an election plan to expand the city's hot breakfast program. Robertson is looking to secure a third term as Vancouver mayor.

His party, Vision Vancouver, set up a virtual birthday card for people to sign. One of the party's candidates posted a Vine of Robertson banging on a drum. A birthday gift perhaps?
