Jays’ dim playoff hopes could end Monday night

The Toronto Blue Jays fading playoff hopes could be done Monday night.

Toronto welcomes Seattle to the Rogers Centre (7:05 p.m. ET), and while the Jays’ season is on the line, the Mariners are in the thick of the American League wild card race.

The team's magic number is two, meaning a combination of a win by the Kansas City Royals, who currently hold the second wild card spot, and a Toronto loss would eliminate the Jays from playoff contention.

The Jays are coming off a disastrous road trip, winning just one of seven games. And now, with three teams ahead of them, the Jays have no control over their fate, even if they were to win the final seven games.
