You might wish you lived on a tropical island but after 365 days of waltzing around in your bikini, we can bet you’ll be longing for a little fall fashion.

As we start to move into sweater weather, fall jackets are a must-have on anyone's shopping list. It’s always important to invest in a stylish, durable and classic jacket that will last you a few years.

Lucky for us, fall jackets tend to be more varied in style than the heavy parkas we wear once Wintergeddon hits.

There are so many options too, from the classic trench to the leather bomber to fall 2014's standout trend, the robe coat.

Without further ado, here are some of our favourite fall jackets that’ll make you forgive summer for leaving in such a hurry…almost.

Every woman should own a classic tan trench coat. The great thing about this style is you can find it at varying price points. Burberry might have the most covetable version but Zara’s take on the classic coat looks just as great and the price tag won’t cause a medical emergency.

If you feel like splurging, there’s nothing more satisfying then doing it for cashmere. This season, the robe coat is front and centre and we might sell our first born for this luxurious two-tone cashmere robe coat from Fendi.

You can’t really go through fall without owning a piece that features plaid. Banana Republic answered our prayers with their cropped plaid coat, which is ideal if you’re looking for something with a little bit of a pattern.

Canadian label Smythe partnered with Roots to create our dream leather bomber jacket for Roots' 40th anniversary. The jacket features bold hardware and an almost guaranteed perfect fit.

Ted Baker always brightens fall’s muted colours with bold jewel-toned pieces that demand at least a glance from passersby. This royal blue peplum coat from their fall collection is no exception.

All Saints is the high street label you want to wear if you’re trying to exude an effortless cool. This khaki cropped jacket from the brand features a unique cut and high collar that will turn a few heads.

This fuzzy shearling jacket is great for those looking to add a little texture to their closet. It’s the perfect fall jacket to pair with buttery leather riding boots and dark denim.

All things quilted were popular on the runway during fall/winter 2014 collections and we’re starting to see the trend hit retailers. We love the classic appeal of this quilted long jacket from Massimo Dutti that makes us feel a bit like we’re going riding in the English countryside.
