Lieutenant-governor swearing-in ceremony today

The ceremony to officially install Elizabeth Dowdeswell as Ontario's 29th lieutenant-governor will create road closures around Queen's Park early this afternoon.

Elizabeth Dowdeswell named Ontario's new lieutenant-governor.

Dowdeswell, who will succeed David Onley, will be sworn in at a ceremony  preceded by a procession set to depart the Royal Ontario Museum at 1:15 p.m. before moving south to Queen's Park.     

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the legislature between 2 and 3 p.m.

The procession will create the following road closures between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.:

- Queen's Park Crescent from Bloor Street to College Street.

- Hoskins Avenue from Devonshire to Queen's Park Crescent.

- Wellesley Street West from Queen's Park Crescent East to Queen's Park Crescent West.
