Bombers' QB Drew Willy ready to play against Hamilton

He will after all.

There had been questions about whether Winnipeg Blue Bombers' QB Drew Willy would be healthy enough to play in this weekend's home game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The team announced Friday that he will suit up as the starter.

Willy's throwing shoulder was injured when he was sacked late in the second quarter of a Bombers' 25-9 loss to the B.C. Lions on Sept. 13.

Fortunately for the Bombers, they had a bye last weekend, giving Willy a little more time to heal.

Reports from last week said Willy would be unlikely to play against Hamilton. That prognosis was upgraded to a day-by-day evaluation this week with the team saying Willy's status would be a game-time decision.

Kickoff is at 5:30 CST at Investors Group Field.
