Power restored at Toronto City Hall

Toronto City Hall will reopen on Monday, after a fire in a hydro vault knocked out the building’s power ahead of the weekend.

The city issued a news release Sunday indicating that five generators are currently providing the building with power. Repairs to the building’s electrical system won't be complete for several weeks.

When the building reopens on Monday, the Hester How Daycare Centre, The Café on the Square and the on-site library branch will all be operating normally.

The city says the costs stemming from Thursday's fire and the subsequent power outage are still not known.
