'The Simpsons' Death: Here's Who Died On Season 26's Premiere (SPOILERS)

There's One Less Simpsons Character Now (SPOILERS)

SPOILER ALERT: The death will be revealed below, so don't read on if you don't want to know.

Terrified fans can relax. Krusty the Clown lives on.

The creators of "The Simpsons" delivered on their promise to kill off a character in the Season 26 premiere, but it wasn't who most viewers expected.

Krusty's dad, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, died in Sunday night's episode, something producer Al Jean alluded to when he said that the unlucky character would be played by an actor who had won an Emmy for his role.

However, Dan Castellaneta, who plays both Krusty and Homer, has also won Emmys for his work on the show, which led to speculation that Krusty or even Homer would be killed off, something Jean reassured viewers would never happen.

While we're relieved that Krusty is still with us, many fans still felt let down by the death after nearly a year of hype.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Jean called the death " a little over-hyped", but he arguably contributed to some of the buildup. Back in April, he said the death would be bigger than that of King Joffrey in "Game of Thrones", dubbing it "The Yellow Wedding".
