Man, 61, accused of robbing 3 Toronto banks in 3 months

A 61-year-old man is accused of robbing three Toronto banks over a three-month period.

Toronto police allege that the man hit a bank in the McCowan Road and Ellesmere Avenue area on June 27, a bank near Leslie Street and Lawrence Avenue East on July 23, and a bank on Eglinton Avenue East on Monday.

In each alleged robbery, police say the man used a note and placed a bag on the counter "with an object that resembled the shape of a handgun."

The accused was arrested on Monday and charged with three counts of robbery. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday.
