What could be a more Canadian way to kick off the new NHL hockey season than a game pitting the Montreal Canadiens against the Toronto Maple Leafs? Well, how about a free Tragically Hip concert before the Habs vs Leafs game.
To get Toronto-based hockey fans excited before the first October 8 face-off, Yonge-Dundas Square will host the NHL's free hockey and music festival beginning at noon and featuring NHL alums, hockey activities and "special guest appearances."

Then at 6:30pm, the Tragically Hip will take the stage for a free concert, part of which will be aired across Canada on Sportsnet before the puck drops at 7pm.
