A Chanel Shopping Basket That Costs $12,500 Exists

This Basket Costs $12,500

Chanel is known for selling outrageously priced merchandise (remember that graffiti print backpack?) but their latest bag may be their most ridiculous yet.

On Tuesday, Vogue Nippon editor Anna Dello Russo was spotted carrying the luxury label's shopping basket from the fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection during Paris Fashion Week.

The price? Oh, just a measly $12,500! Who needs those recyclable bags from the grocery store when you can get a chic basket that can hold your Chanel wallet and purse while shopping for apples?

Maybe it's just our jealousy talking. After all, Chanel's head designer Karl Lagerfeld does design some pretty cool things (how about those couture sneakers?) but it does seem a bit nuts to pay that much money for a bag that will go out of style this time next year.

In our opinion, if you're going to buy Chanel, stick to an investment bag like their classic quilted flaps that you'll wear for the rest of your life. But hey, if you've got the money and wanna spend it on their shopping bag, go for it! And please post it on Instagram so we can stare at it.

In the meantime, check out Chanel's cool Spring/Summer 2015 collection, which made its runway presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
