Colleen Weeks was found guilty of violating the province's Personal Health Information Act this week following a trial in St. John's provincial court.
Weeks, who worked as a triage nurse at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, was charged after medical records were accessed without authorization 18 times between April 2011 and July 2012.
Weeks from fired from her position with Eastern Health more than a year ago.
Judge Gregory Brown said that Weeks testified during her trial that she knew at least one of the patients whose file she accessed was outside her circle of care.
Weeks is due back in court for sentencing Oct. 9.
