Wildrose party names school trustee Sheila Taylor to run in Calgary byelection

CALGARY - Alberta's Wildrose Opposition has announced school trustee Sheila Taylor will be the party's candidate in the Calgary-West byelection.

Taylor is also a former chairwoman of the Calgary Board of Education.

She says that the governing Progressive Conservatives have lost their way, and the Wildrose has a plan to provide leadership and get results.

Calgary police Sgt. Mike Ellis is the PC candidate in the riding, while Brian Malkinson represents the NDP and Troy Millington the Alberta Party.

Premier Jim Prentice has dropped the writ for four byelections on Oct. 27 — three in Calgary and one in Edmonton.

The Calgary-West riding came open earlier this week when PC legislature member Ken Hughes announced he was retiring.
