Fire in Beauharnois leaves victim in cardiac arrest

One person was taken to hospital in cardiac arrest after a fire at a residential building in Beauharnois, southwest of Montreal.

Neighbours phoned 911 after the fire started around midnight, in a two-story apartment building. 

Firefighters from several neighbouring communities helped put out the fire.

The building was heavily damaged.

The cause has not been confirmed.

Authorities have not given an update on the condition of the victim.
