The Bench Project In Calgary Is The Most Delightful Mystery

These Benches = A Delightful Calgary Mystery

It's a mystery of the most delightful kind.

An anonymous group, identifying themselves only at "The Bench Project," has been leaving brightly decorated benches around Calgary over the past few months, encouraging passerby to take a seat and relax.

The most recent bench placement was in front of Kricket's in Mission, but according to the project's Twitter feed, benches have been dropping for almost a year.

.

The benches, which have been painted with a #haveaseat hashtag, include a short note asking local businesses to pass along the bench to a neighbour if they'd prefer not to have it in front of their shop.

And while no one knows who's behind the project, or what it all means, there's no doubt it has Calgarians talking.

We couldn't agree more that it's a fantastic way to encourage community spirit and engagement.
