Champlain Bridge closed to Montreal-bound traffic all weekend

All Montreal-bound lanes of the Champlain Bridge will be closed this weekend for a work blitz.

The closure is scheduled to start Friday at 10 p.m. ET and last until Monday at 5 a.m. ET.

The construction blitz will will focus on connecting the Nun's Island Bypass Bridge to the current Champlain Bridge corridor.

This weekend is the first of two major blitzes — the second is scheduled to run from Oct. 17 to 20.

The bridge authority is suggesting that drivers use the Bonaventure Expressway to reach Nun's Island and the South Shore.

Both lanes on the Victoria Bridge will be open in the direction of Montreal.

The yellow line of the metro will also be shut down on Saturday and Sunday for repair work on the tunnel ceiling. A shuttle service will be offered by the STM between Montréal and Longueuil.
