Consort shooting leaves 3 dead, RCMP say

RCMP are investigating after three people were shot and killed in Consort, Alta.

According to police, the three people were shot while on rural properties in the Consort area, about 300 kilometres southeast of Edmonton.

Sgt. Josée Valiquette with the RCMP has confirmed the shootings happened sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning.

"I can't speculate as to what happened. As with any crime scene, our officers are investigating. The RCMP Red Deer Major Crimes Unit, as well as forensic identification section [are involved]."

It is unknown how many properties were involved in the incident, although Valiquette said there was "more than one location in the crime scene."

Valiquette could not offer any additional details about the age or sex of the victims.

"I believe they're adults. I don't have details at this time."

When asked if police had anyone in custody, Valiquette said the situation is under control, and that RCMP are not looking for any suspects at this time. No officers were involved in the shooting.
