EDMONTON - An Edmonton-area framer faces two arson charges in relation to fires at construction sites where he was working.
Eric Gould is accused in a condominium fire that caused $6 million in damage in Edmonton last spring, as well as in a fire at a residential building site in Pigeon Lake in 2011.
Police say a second man is also charged in the blaze at the Cove Properties condo development in the city's southwest.
The fire last March forced the evacuation of eight nearby homes as a precaution and caused some damage to neighbouring properties, but there were no injuries.
Gould, who is 28, also faces other charges in the condo fire that include break and enter, possession of stolen property and conspiracy.
Jeremy Thibert, who is 22, is charged with arson, possession of incendiary material, break and enter, theft under $5,000 and conspiracy.
“This was a complex investigation that lasted over six months,” Staff Sgt. Terry Innes of the Edmonton police arson unit said in a release Friday.
