Winnipeg doctor's licence suspended over false billing

WINNIPEG - A Winnipeg doctor's licence to practise has been suspended for five months after he billed for house-call services that were provided by a nurse practitioner.

The College Of Physicians and Surgeons Of Manitoba says Dr. Anton Kloppers betrayed public trust when he gave false and misleading statements to cover up his wrongdoing.

The visits in question were between September 2009 and December 2011.

Kloppers was ordered to pay the college $30,000 to cover the cost of the investigation and inquiry.
