120 stray dogs from California to be adopted by Canadians

The Vancouver rescue group, Thank Dog I Am Out and California's Wings of Rescue helped fly about 120 stray dogs to Bellingham, Wash., to be adopted by eagerly awaiting Canadians over the weekend.

The animals came from overcrowded shelters in southern California where they would otherwise have been put down.

Thank Dog I Am Out dog rescuer Susan Patterson says it is common to see up to 200 pets surrendered to those shelters every day.

Jeana Traviss had her heart set on a cute pooch named Frank.

"Kinda magnificent that they've gone from nobody wanting them to all of us wanting them," said Traviss. "It's an amazing show of love for dogs."

There were no shortage of smitten owners, and Frank and Traviss were among those lucky enough to find each other.
