2 Dead After Shooting Near Toronto High School

UPDATE: A Toronto District School Board trustee confirmed to CBC News that one of the victims was a 15-year-old student from James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School.

Two people are dead after a shooting near a Toronto high school, Global News reports.

The shooting occurred less than 100 metres from Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School in Etobicoke at approximately 12:30 pm Monday, according to the news outlet.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, paramedics told CBC. The other was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died.

CBC reports that the shooting happened behind an apartment building near the school.

The high school, along with two others in the area, was under hold and secure, but that order has since been lifted, according to CP24. Another school is still under lockdown, Global reports.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was the head coach of the school's football team until he was dismissed in May of 2013.
