Air Canada jet loses wheel landing at Trudeau airport

An Air Canada jet lost one of its wheels while landing and went off the runway at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada says.

Rox-Anne D'Aoust from the TSB said a wheel from the left main gear of the Airbus A330 detached and rolled off the runway.

She said the plane — a model that can hold up to 335 passengers — also went off the runway, and had to be taxied back on.

There were no injuries.

D'Aoust said the TSB has deployed a team of investigators who are taking measurements and photographs and checking the plane's data recorder.
