An end of an era: customers say farewell to Penrose Fish & Chips

After a more than six-decade run, a Toronto institution — renowned locally for its golden brown, deep fried fish and handcut french fries — is shuttering its doors for good.

Penrose Fish & Chips, a midtown icon, is dishing out its last orders of its beloved fish and chips Wednesday to the dismay of a legion of loyal customers. In early September, news of its imminent closure brought immediate disappointment, with longtime patrons describing it as "an end of an era."
