Police seek new 'person of interest' in Etobicoke double shooting

Toronto homicide investigators are seeking another "person of interest" in the shooting deaths of two teenagers near an Etobicoke high school last week, and on Monday released an image of the person with an appeal for the public's help in identifying him.

Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School student Zaid Youssef, 17, and James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School student Michael Menjivar, 15, were killed in the early afternoon on Oct. 6.

The shots that killed them rang out in a field near Don Boscso where a large group of teens from both schools had allegedly gathered to watch a fight.

Funerals for the teens were held over the weekend in the north end of Toronto.

On Wednesday last week, police released five photographs of "persons of interest" and appealed to the public for help identifying them, and on Sunday distributed two more images.

With Monday's appeal, homicide investigators have now released a total of eight images of men they are trying to identify. Police earlier said that they believe up to 40 people may have witnessed the shootings.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the persons of interest themselves to contact Det.-Sgt. Peter Trimble at 416-808-7400 extension 77394.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400. Tips can also be passed on through Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at, or by texting TOR and the accompanying message to CRIMES (274637).
