Steven Stamkos single-handedly beats Canadiens

It’s been said many times but worth repeating: Steven Stamkos is a breathtaking goal scorer.

With apologies to Alex Ovechin, Stamkos is likely the NHL’s best.

The Tampa Bay Lightning sniper simply buried the previously undefeated Montreal Canadiens on Monday night. He scored a hat trick in two only periods, highlighted by a picture-perfect Victor Hedman stretch pass and Stamkos breakaway goal on Habs goalie Carey Price.

It was Stamkos’ first three goals of the season. The Lightning went on to dismantle the Canadiens 7-1, ending Montreal's early season undefeated streak.

Have a look at all three goals in the video above.
