MASKWACIS, Alta. - RCMP say a man is facing murder charges after a burned body was discovered on a reserve in central Alberta.

Sgt. Josee Valiquette says a resident of the Samson Cree Nation initially reported a homicide to police.

Officers and search dogs then located the body of an adult man on Monday afternoon near a home.

The body has not yet been positively identified.

Valiquette says investigators have determined the killing is not gang-related.

Walter Samuel Louis, 21, is charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a human body.

He is to appear in Wetaskiwin court Oct. 16.
